International Students Office(ISO) in charge of the affairs for international students in JJU is subordinate to the International Office(IO). Its main responsibilities include examining and verifying the qualification of the international students who apply to study in the university, dealing with the entry and exit formalities for students concerned, applying for degrees of the international students. The relevant colleges and departments are in charge of the enrollment, administration of the academic activities and daily life for the international students.

1) Application and Admission Procedures for International Students
a. Applicants can ask for the application form from the International Students Office. Forms can be downloaded from the website. Send the application form, Copies of passport, Health Certificate, schooling certificates and transcripts with translations into Chinese or English, and other related materials for application to the International Students Office before the deadline.
b. After verification by the International Students Office, the "Application form for visa in China" (JW202) and "Notice of admission", will be given to the qualified students.
c. With JW202 and "Notice of admission", the student can apply for the study visa in China (X Visa) from the embassy or the consulate of China. (Notice: Don't forget to bring JW202 form back to the International Students Office of JJU after being checked by the embassy or the consulate.)
d. Report to the International Students Office with JW202 form and "Notice of Admission" to register and pay the tuition fee according to the date indicated on the "Notice of Admission". If for any special reason, students can't do the registration within the claimed date, please contact the International Students Office in advance. Students can delay their registration if permitted.

b. Room rent
Apartment with bathroom, color TV, refrigerator, cooker, washing machine, computer with Internet access, telephone, and air conditioner.
Occupied by one person: 5 US Dollars per person per day, that is, 750US Dollars per semester.
Shared by two persons: 3 US Dollars per person per day, that is, 450 US Dollars per semester.
Shared by four persons: 2 US Dollars per person per day, that is, 300 US Dollars per semester.
c. Application fee
50 US Dollars per person. (Payable on application)
d. Food, medical care, teaching materials and traveling will all be paid by the overseas students themselves.

4) Short-term courses
To meet the growing demands of international students who intend to study the Chinese language, culture, customs and traditions, Jiujiang University offers various short-term courses. Foreign universities and organizations are welcome to contact the International Office for advice about organizing and sending international students to study the short-term courses in the university.

Chinese Language: In accordance with the international students' Chinese proficiency levels, elementary, intermediate and advanced courses are offered with different teaching materials and methodologies. 20 hours of morning classes from Monday to Friday; Review, preview and Taijiquan arts lessons are given in the afternoons. At weekends, there will be visits to downtown areas, lectures on the history and culture of Jiujiang, and leisure activities such as cinemas, theatres and performances given by different traditional artists.

National Conditional Chinese History and Culture: Lectures on A Brief Introduction to China, traditional Chinese culture and customs, visits to factories, farms, residential areas, historical sites will be organized in coordinating with the contents of the courses. Classes on Chinese painting and calligraphy, traditional Chinese folk music, Wushu (Chinese Kungfu), Chinese Cooking, Confucianism and Taoism can be offered, too. Lessons are conducted in Chinese or with interpretation.

Chinese Legal System, Investment and Business Practice in China: Focuses on foreign investments in China and foreign trade activities while concentrating on the constitution civil law, economic law and special regulations for joint ventures. Lectures are integrated with classroom discussions, seminars with lawyers and foreign trade officials, visits to lawyer offices, hearing in the courtroom, etc. Lessons are conducted in Chinese or with interpretation.
Requirements: healthy, under 60 years of age, students, teachers and staff with an academic record of a senior high school, or high school students with a good academic record.

Notes: The courses last for 2-16 weeks. Courses can begin at any time of the year. Students can decide when to begin and end a course. Special arrangements concerning the majors, length of courses and the dates for admissions can be arranged through negotiation between the foreign organizers and the International Office of Jiujiang University.
